HealingHQ.com speaks with veterinarian and intuitive energy healer, Dr. Anyes Van Volkenburgh
Licensed veterinarian and acclaimed animal welfare advocate Dr. Anyes Van Volkenburgh has been helping pets (and people) for more than 15 years. Based in Malibu, California, she combines her extensive knowledge of animals and veterinary medicine with her intuitive energy healing gifts to create her own unique method that encompasses mind, body and soul. She is actively involved in animal welfare advocacy and education in her native Poland and offers one-on-one sessions for those seeking help from around the world.
You say that you tune into the vibration of a pet's soul. How do you do that?
It’s a gift that we all have. It’s intuition. I basically close my eyes and allow images to come to me. I’ve been it doing it for a while so I can discern different vibrations and discern various messages that are coming from spirit. I can see why the animal is sick, what could be causing it… sometimes it’s a problem in the family, sometimes it’s a problem in the household.
Are a pet’s ailments a reflection of their human owner?
Yes, usually it is the person. For example, I had this woman who had a cat that was using the bathroom all over the house instead of her litter box. And the problem was that the lady had just moved out of a house with her partner and into this apartment where she had a lot of fear about living alone. So the cat perceived that vibration and hated the apartment too. So I helped her to get rid of the negative attitude and sage the entire space to clear it and I had her play Gregorian chants, which just naturally raised the vibration of the place, and the cat never went outside the litter box again!
How do you know animals have a soul? How is an animal soul different than a human soul?
I don’t think there is any difference. I think animals are spiritual creatures; they’re like angels in disguise and they’re here to teach us lessons.
Do you see veterinary medicine venturing into a more holistic understanding of pet health?
Unfortunately not. I think we’re always behind and we don’t catch on as quickly as we should. I’m an emergency veterinarian so I do only Western medicine in a clinical setting. In an emergency setting you’re not going to do ‘voodoo’ and acupuncture, but there is a place for that in less extreme cases.
What has your intuition and energy work taught you most about animals?
That they’re very connected to us. They can help us through anything that we want them to. They can help us manifest anything we want, they can help us find soulmates, they can help us exercise and lose weight…they are here to help us and to teach us.
Do you think pets are more evolved than human beings because of their ability to love unconditionally?
Absolutely. They are more evolved because they can be present in the here and now. They don’t worry about the future and they don’t regret the past. They are not in their minds at all; they are truly in the moment. Their soul is pure love and you can see their soul shining through their eyes all the time.
What about food for pets? Do you recommend regular human food like steamed vegetables for pets?
I totally recommend whole food. Not steamed vegetables because they are carnivores, but I think meat and whole food is the key. Processed kibble is just trash. Whatever is good for you is good for your dog. You don’t feed them pizza and french fries!
