Aromatherapy is the use of essential plants, herb oils and scents to treat medical conditions and achieve certain physical and emotional effects. Candles and incense, as well as oils, creams and bath products that are directly applied to the skin, are all effective methods. When it comes to aromatherapy, lavender is one of the most popular scents. Lavender treats a wide variety of physical ailments such as burns, rashes and acne, as well as a host of emotional ailments such as depression, anxiety and nervousness.

Lavender Oil in Aromatherapy

Lavender is one of the safest essential oils used in aromatherapy. Many aromatherapy oils can cause irritation or allergic reactions, and must be mixed with carrier oils such as grape seed or jojoba oil before being applied to the skin. Lavender, which should never be taken internally, can be applied directly to the skin in its undiluted form, making it a wonderful antiseptic and healing tonic for overexposure to the sun, rashes, insect bites and minor burns and abrasions. As a vapor, lavender oil can be used to treat cough, tightness of the chest and respiratory infections.

Lavender Aromatherapy Products

If you need to enliven your spirit, relieve tension and stress, and infuse your environment with a peaceful and calming quality, there are many lavender products to assist you. Aromatherapy candles, incense, sachets, potpourri and diffusers are available for the house and home. Lavender herbal creams, shampoo and bath products, are a great way to bring the scent of lavender into your daily life. Putting a sachet underneath your pillow, wearing an herbal eye mask to bed and rubbing on lavender massage oil before retiring for the night will help you to sleep restfully.

Easy Aromatherapy Solutions

When it comes to aromatherapy, it can be as easy as bringing the plants and herbs you desire into your home. Fresh stalks of lavender can fill a home with delicious scent, while calming the mind and relaxing the body. If you prefer oil, you don’t need to go through the trouble of mixing the oil with a variety of carriers or complimentary oils. Simply dab the oil on your wrists, behind your ears or anywhere you like, to carry the scent with you all day long. For the home, add a couple of drops of essential oil to cotton balls and place them in your closets and drawers. You don’t even need to buy lavender bubble bath, because it is just as simple to add a couple of drops of oil to your water to get a true aromatherapy experience.

Lavender is only one essential oil in the world of aromatherapy, but a simple and effective one to begin the aromatherapy journey.
