With all the advances made by modern medicine in the last one hundred years or so, some people may be puzzled as to why anyone would still be interested in natural cures or natural remedies. Surely there is a pill for whatever ails you and it is as close as your local pharmacy?
A better question might be why are people so committed to taking so many drugs and so keen to swallow down anything that their doctor suggests or they see advertised on the television without giving it a second thought?
Have a second look at those drug commercials – in a typical 30 second spot a third of the time is usually devoted to listing all the potential side effects that taking their wonder drug can cause. An allergy medicine that may causes nausea, diarrhea, and migraines? I’ll stick with the sniffles, thanks.
People have been making use of natural cures and natural remedies to improve their health for centuries, and strangely enough conventional medicine fans, many of the “wonder drugs” touted so highly over natural remedies were actually derived from them! Modern day aspirin, for instance, shares many of the same properties as White Willow, which people were using as a headache remedy 500 years ago.
Not all conventional drugs are bad, but there are alternatives to blindly taking a series of artificial chemical compounds that are safer (and cheaper) that fall under the heading of natural remedies or natural cures. The drug industry is a big business, and mistakes are made. Drugs are recalled and lawsuits filed, as what was once thought of as a safe drug turns out to have some nasty downsides.
If you keep an open mind as you explore the world of natural remedies and natural cures you will discover that the answer to curing what ails you does not always lie behind the pharmacy counter.
