Using Feng Shui tips for decorating your bedroom doesn’t have to involve a compass, a consultant or expensive interior design. It can be as simple as choosing the right colors, eliminating clutter and buying simple, inexpensive decorations that bring the flow of Feng Shui into your life.

What is Feng Shui?

Although Feng Shui can oftentimes come across as too scientific and in-depth for some, it is a very simple method of opening up the flow of energy, peace and serenity around you so that you may easily attract the things you desire into your life. If you desire a new relationship or a more peaceful and intimate relationship, you may want to look at your bedroom to see where the energy lies.

Feng Shui for the Bedroom: Colors, Tips and Decorating

In Feng Shui the bedroom is a place for relaxing, loving and intimate connections. While it may be helpful to consult Feng Shui texts on bed placement and other directional placements, you can also use color, intention and simple decorating techniques to draw the energy that you are looking for. Optimal colors for peace and romance are soft, pale colors such as pink, lavender and yellow, as well as fleshy colors such as peach, apricot and light beige. The colors of your room will either warm or cool the mood and can set the romantic temperature in your relationships. Warm colors accented by soft materials can nurture the energy of intimacy and openness. In Feng Shui it is thought that a warmly decorated room will bring feelings of warmth and harmony. Colors such as dark reds, bright oranges, dark greens and many cool colors such as darker blues and purples, do very well in offices and bathrooms, but may be too dark or fiery for the gentle nature of a relaxing and intimate bedroom space. Cleaning your bedroom may be one of the easiest and most successful ways to open up the energy and allow peaceful and flowing relations into your life. A bedroom full of clutter represents a mind full of clutter, which in turn oftentimes creates relationship confusion or tension. A bedroom should be free of unnecessary items on the floor or stuffed under the bed. It should be minimally decorated and free flowing, with everything having a place. Too many stuffed animals, frilly pillows or piles of magazines, clothes or other items can create a stale environment that affects the sleep, relaxation or intimate connections in the bedroom.

Feng Shui Art: Using Feng Shui to Pair Up

The decorations and art in your bedroom can not only set the tone of the interactions that happen within those four walls, but can also draw things into your life. According to Feng Shui the bedroom should reflect images of love and togetherness. It is not optimal to have a lot of decorations that are single objects, or art that reflects people alone or aloof. The best choices for bedroom art include works that depict shared joy and romantic scenes. It is advisable to choose a photo of a couple walking hand in hand on the beach, instead of photo of a deserted beach landscape or a single person sitting on the beach alone. It is also a wonderful idea to buy things in pairs. Buying small paired items such as candles, bookends or lamps, can bring an aura of partnership into your life. If you are single, make sure you have two pillows on your bed, and that you have two nightstands – one for you and one for your future beloved. Create the space as if you have a partner and make room for him to easily fit into your life. This also works with established relationships by allowing each person to feel comfortable, at home and at ease in the bedroom. Let Feng Shui simplicity enhance your intimate relationships without a huge hassle. It’s as easy as changing the colors and removing the clutter!
