Enemas, colon hydrotherapy and other forms of colon detoxifying aren’t the most pleasing of conversational topics. No one really wants to talk about the fact that they may have pounds of fecal matter stuck in their colons, weighing them down and making them bloated, constipated and sluggish. Nor do they want to take about going to get it removed with equipment. Many might not even entertain the idea, thinking that it is a painful or scary process that may leave them uncomfortable and embarrassed.
The truth is that colon hydrotherapy is becoming more commonplace as health makes its way to the forefront of our collective consciousness. Colon hydrotherapy is right up there with eating organic food and practicing yoga. Celebrities such as Courtney Love, Ben Affleck, Paris Hilton, Janet Jackson and Alicia Silverstone, have reported positive results. Centers are popping up all over the world and home unit sales are increasing.
Colon Hydrotherapy: What Is It?
Colon hydrotherapy, or colonic irrigation, is a simple drug and chemical-free therapy that allows your colon to be ‘flushed out’ to remove any build-up or residue that might be hindering your digestive and elimination processes. The technique begins at a licensed colon hydrotherapy clinic, under the supervision of a hydrotherapist. During colonic irrigation, the colon is gently filled with warm water by inserting a sanitary, disposable speculum attached to a colonic irrigation machine into the rectum. After the colon has held the water for a sufficient amount of time and the colon hydrotherapist has massaged the colon to help dislodge debris, the water and waste are released out of a long rubber hose attached to the speculum, disposing the waste into the machine. One can see the waste that leaves one’s body through the clear rubber hose, without smelling or experiencing direct contact with the waste in any way.
Most clinics suggest between three to twelve visits during a three week period to sufficiently clean your colon. Each time you may see the debris and waste that leaves your colon, so that you and your therapist can decide how well you are doing with each cleansing. Your therapist may also suggest a diet plan and food suggestions to help you keep your colon clean and working properly.
Home Colonic Irrigation Units
While a professional colonic irrigation machine may cost several thousand dollars, and a visit to the colonic hydrotherapy clinic may cost around eighty dollars per visit, many suppliers are offering a variety of home units for mere hundreds. There are a wide variety of different machines, boards and units available to administer your own colonics.
Colon Hydrotherapy Results
Many people report feeling lighter, more buoyant and energetic after a colon cleanse. Others have reported that colonic irrigation has helped them to get rid of headaches, food allergies and Candida, as well as skin conditions, hemorrhoids, back pain and constipation.
